YaST (Yet another setup tool) is the main system tool by SUSE Linux. YaST works on X11 with a graphical Qt frontend or on console with an ncurses driven interface. So it is also usable within ssh sessions.

With YaST one can

  • Install and deinstall software
  • Create, change, delete users and user rights
  • Add and remove hardware
  • Add and remove system services (e.g. activating samba, apache)
